  About Age Concern Discussions

Age Concern Discussions is for anyone who wants to exchange ideas and information.

All we ask that your postings are in good taste, and you are considerate towards other users – for more information on writing your posts, see the Netiquette information below.

You will see a list of different topics which you can read and join in with. Within these topics you can start a new conversation, reply to someone else’s message or just follow the discussion.

To write a message, you need to register your details. The boards are designed for information exchange between the people who post messages. It is not an Age Concern information service.  If you want information from Age Concern, please use the Contact Us page.

Netiquette

We’d like the discussion boards to be a safe place for people to exchange ideas, and talk about subjects close to their hearts.

For this reason we may occasionally remove postings: either because they are offensive or abusive, or because they are libellous and could put us in legal jeopardy.

If messages are off topic they may be removed or placed in a more suitable area. We also reserve the right to ban visitors who use offensive language or act in an antisocial or unacceptable way.

Guidelines:

  • Please be aware that posting on a board is not always the same as talking and something that might be said in a lighthearted manner, could easily be misunderstood or taken the wrong way and cause offence.

  • Keep your messages tasteful and decent. Consider who the other users of the board are, and what they would find acceptable.

  • In order to keep the conversation flowing, try and limit your postings to 300 words or less.

  • Writing in CAPITALS is known as shouting, and some people find this offensive (it is also harder to read).

  • We will not tolerate racism, sexism or homophobia in any posting.

If you read something that you find offensive, please inform the administrator, giving the location of the message.
