The Time Capsule - Childhood

Power Cuts 1947

The power cuts of 1947 held no problems for my resourceful mother. If they happened at tea time we had "picnics by the fire". Toast and dripping never tasted as good as when my brother and I were sitting in front of the fire, in the dark, warming our toes. We never realised until years later, that what we thought was an adventure was mums way of making something fun out of a dire situation.
