The Time Capsule - Childhood

Memories - 1920s

I remember, I remember, the house
where I was born,
It didn't have a bathroom, or a
garden with a lawn.
But stood joined to three others,
one each side ,one at the back.
A shared toilet and a midden made
the street a cul-de-sac.

I remember, I remember, that house
of long ago,
One room upstairs where we all slept
and one room down below.
A setpot in the corner, a narrow
sink behind the door,
The fireplace, so big and black
And stone slabs for the floor.

I remember, I remember, The house
where I was born,
It didn't have a bathroom, or a
garden with a lawn,
But many happy hours I spent when
I was young and free,
Within those walls we made our
home, my family and me.
