The Time Capsule - Childhood

Coronation Day 1930

The preparations for the coronation of George the 6th is my earliest clear memory.

There was to be a street party where I lived very close to the Centre in Bristol.  All the children had paper costumes made for them and mine was a very pretty dress made from crepe paper with small yellow and orange flowers on it. Sadly mine did not fit and I was the only child there in ordinary clothes an event which marked me for life with the idea that nice things were not for me.
