The Time Capsule - 1950s

Coronation Day 1953

I remember the coronation so well, I remember Mum & Dad getting our first TV, tall brown wooden box with 9 inch screen, on the day our elderly neighbour, Mrs Bird came to us and we sat and we all watched the Coronation. My sister was just a babe at that time. All that pomp and ceremony was wonderful to watch and for me as a 6 year old it was like magic being able to see it as well.   I remember also but not as clearly when the Queen coming through a road near school and us kids waving Union Jacks.

Location - Eltham London
