Welcome To My 96th Spring
Spring! Joyous Spring. how many more shall I see? For sad old time has cast its spell, and taken a toll on me! The days are passing of darkness and gloom. Herald the prospect when sunshine will loom. Now is the wonder of nature's yearly rebirth. Warmth brings life back to the earth. as day follows day, we shall see. Tender green buds unfold on every tree. Intensely aware, i was life unfold. From land fast asleep, in the forest and the cold. First come the snowdrops, and crocus and bulbs so fair. That the sweetness of pollen will fill the air. The camellia takes on its cloak of red. Tall lilies rise up from their loamy bed. The flowers and people turn their faces to the sun. A spring in their step, when bright days have begun. We are renewed with nature's own gift. That sense of belonging and spirit lift. For we welcome summer, now heading our way. and pleasure to come that will fill our day. Life can be happy, and life can be sad. So let us be thankful for all we have had.
I Remember Always
Now I recall your yearning plea: "Soon I shall be gone. Will you remember me?" Could I forget the day we were wed! I am yours for eternity, forever, you said!
On my fingers, you placed your ring. Later you sang, "Love is the sweetest thing". We bonded from the very start, Always together, never apart.
Happiness is fulfilment:this with me you shared. Years of Loving kindness, always showed you cared. Happily I told you, "Love dispels all fear". but you gently warned me, "I'm a soldier, dear".
It was once a war that made us part. Desolate without you, I never lost heart. With years of war behind us, You returned to the fold. That day of reunion can never be told!
Days fraught with suffering, pity, ache and pain. I tried to help and comfort, make you well again. Then, we lost our children, life seemed out of control. Despairing, bereft, we were denied a parental role.
Yet time can hold surprises, our longings not in vain. A boy child came to help us, to light our way again. Together, we have shared a grand, adventurous life. Past days of wonder, in being just your wife.
Nearly sixty years, and you have gone, and now I search for peace. The longing in my heart remains, it will never cease. For I am lost without you, and try as I may- There is no way out- Please show me the way?
The Betrayal 1938
Beware of the man with so much charm. For it could end in devastating harm. Mine vowed that he loved me, Said he cared. Promised a future gloriously shared. Then I found him kissing her. and knew at a glance. That our life together would not stand a chance.
The Hat 1938
Aunty bought me a pretty hat. Oh! How proud I was of that! Silkened flowers around the crown. I wore it to church, and going to town.
From my bedroom window, I saw My sister going out the front door. She was wearing my lovely hat. how upset i was over that!
"Mother, Mother, call her back! "Now, child, it's generosity you lack. You must learn to share, my dear. She will return it, never fear".
"Mother, it is my hat that she prefers. now everyone will think itis hers. I do not want my friends to see, what rightfully belongs to me!"
Dear Mother was wrong, I was to see. That lovely hat was not returned to me. My sister walked by the river on a windy day. the hat took flight, and washed away!
How I cried over my little hat! So prideful I had been of wearing that. Never again would I with sister share. Whatever you called me, i would not care!
