| Five years ago when we bought the property where we now live the gardens both front and back were just awful, I couldn’t wait to get “stuck in” so to speak. My husband is no gardener, he keeps the lawn nice and will do any heavy work for me, but he doesn’t know a plant from a weed.
The front we did have someone to come and rip it up, and then landscape it. I like it, as it looks nice and tidy and is very low maintenance. The back was “my baby”, it was an utter jungle. I just drew a rough sketch of how I wanted it to look. We worked very hard, and within one year it was almost fully established.
This picture was taken last June, this is what I look onto every morning when I open my bedroom curtains. This photo shows only half of my garden, the other side I re-designed yet again last spring, it is now laid to gravel, with the odd shrub, one of which is a beautiful white camellia that is almost ready to burst into flower. Standing on the gravel I have a number of containers full of spring flowering bulbs. I spend many happy hours in my garden, I love it.
