Our policy position

In our ageing society it is vital that older people have the chance to contribute for as long as they are willing and able.

Most people wish to carry on working at least to State Pension Age but many are unable to. Older people should also be entitled to lifelong learning, both to gain skills for employment, and as a way of remaining active and stimulated in retirement.

Our policy work on employment issues covers:

  • age discrimination
  • welfare to work
  • flexible working and workplace health.

Our work on learning focuses on:

  • skills
  • learning in retirement.
