Age Concern’s Grandparent of the Year is a celebration of the importance of grandparents in family life.
Over the last 17 years‚ Age Concern has regularly launched a nationwide search for the Grandparent of the Year and we are delighted to be running the award this year in association with Specsavers.
The competition aims to raise awareness of the important and sometimes overlooked role grandparents play in today’s society. Grandparents are central to family life‚ support their grandchildren in many different ways and bring a range of strengths to their families. The contribution they make to the well-being of their grandchildren continues from childhood into adulthood.
Patsy Drysdale was announced as the winner of Grandparent of the Year 2008 at a ceremony at the House of Commons in March hosted by GMTV star and Age Concern Ambassador‚ Fiona Phillips.
For more information on the event and the finalists go to our Grandparent of the Year web page. If you would like to nominate someone for the award in the future‚ please email grandparents@ace.org.uk‚ write to the Communication Events team at the Age Concern England address or call 020 8765 7602.
