Latest developments
Tha government confirmed in July that it will launch a new ageing strategy in 2009 which will update the 2005 Opportunity Age strategy. The Audit Commission reported that Opportunity Age has had little impact on the work of local government.
In June‚ local government targets for the next three years were confirmed in Local Area Agreements. Few local authorities have adopted targets relating to older people.
