Our response to water companies' bogus caller campaign (09.06.08)

Gordon Lishman‚ Director General of Age Concern‚ said:

“This is a very welcome initiative. Unfortunately older people can be particularly vulnerable to bogus callers who will stop at nothing to con them out of their hard earned cash.

“This type of crime can take people unawares and we would urge older people not to open their door to callers unless they are absolutely sure of their identity. Raising awareness of the importance of playing it safe and always checking credentials should help prevent older people being tricked by these calculating thieves."
