Our response to the carers strategy (06.10.08)

Gordon Lishman‚ Director General of Age Concern‚ said:

“While this money is welcome‚ it is tiny compared to the value of care that an army of friends and relatives provide for free day in‚ day out‚ and carers of pension age get little help from carers benefit.

“It is disappointing that there are not plans to boost carers income immediately‚ but we will be looking closely at the measures the government puts forward to address current inadequacies.”
