Retirement

I’m a lady of leisure‚ of pleasure‚ of fun‚
my working days over‚ new future begun.
Each day is a holiday. Now I am free
to realise dreams and to live life for me‚
meet up with my friends‚ enjoy lunch here and there –
no constant commitments with no time to spare.
I’m making a list that I’ll work my way through
for there is so much that I’m longing to do.

I brought up three children who gave me no rest
but happily now they have all flown the nest
and made me so proud of the job I have done‚
but now it’s my time – I am my number one!
You won’t find me sitting in some rocking chair‚
nursing my ailments and feeling despair –
I’m rocking and rolling – no time for the blues…
retirement means freedom to do what we choose!
