'Joy of ageing' poetry competition runner-up Chrissy Stevens:
A Pensioner
Well it has come and too fast
Yes I put my name on the dotted line
I've got it my orange clad pass
And the name on it yes it is mine
Sixty when you say it so fast it's not bad
My walking is not like Sebastian Coe
But still I never will feel sad
MY I have hundreds of tasks to do before I go
It seems to have come up on me slow
yes I'm slower now‚ but will never be last
I have so many things to do and places to go
I have so many stitches to cast
Windsor and Hatfield‚ Whitehall and the Tower
They are all on my things I must do
but that's just the start of fullfilling my power
hampton and whealdham to name just a few
Tapestry I have also started
For Henry my heart is still with
I want to make something wholehearted
And to my family something I want to give
I should have time to sit and ponder
But alas I just don't want to sit still
I have to keep going longer and longer
So my life I keep willing to fill
