Q. How can I be sure my funeral will be carried out as requested?

A. Once you’ve made your arrangements‚ your Funeral Director can carry them out whenever they are required‚ including any special arrangements or requests you may have made. Your details are held centrally and are only released to the Funeral Director when they are needed.

Q. What is the Trust for Age Concern Funeral Plans?

A. The Trust for Age Concern Funeral Plans is a Trust Fund in which the payments for your plan will be held. The money is carefully invested to ensure it meets rising costs and provides security for the future.

Q. How will it ensure that my money is secure?

A. Any payment you make for your Age Concern Guaranteed Funeral Plan will be placed in a completely separate Trust. The Trust Fund is independent and is looked after by a team of financial experts – including M&G Investment Management Ltd.‚ part of the Prudential Group.

Q. How will my family or executor know what to do in the event of my death?

A. The membership pack you will receive when you  take out a Plan contains a special executor pack including a copy of your arrangements to pass to a family member‚ friend or your executor. It will give them all the details and tell them exactly what to do and what number to call in the event of your death.

When the time comes‚ it will only take one phone call to your Nominated Funeral Director who will handle all the arrangements efficiently and sensitively according to the Plan you have chosen and your specific instructions.

Q. What happens to my funeral if costs go up dramatically?

A. The Plan guarantees to cover the full cost of the Funeral Director’s services‚ recommended doctors’ and minister’s fees and the cremation fee‚ as set out in the Plan‚ regardless of how far in the future it is needed or by how much costs have risen. Once you have taken out a Plan‚ these costs are frozen and guaranteed never to increase - no matter how far in the future it is needed - you will still receive the same high quality service you would expect today.

Q. How long will it take to make my arrangements?

A. It need only take a few minutes‚ yet the rewards of taking this simple step will last forever. Just complete your Personal Arrangements Form and return it to us with your selected method of payment. We will do the rest.

Q. Are there any age or health restrictions?

A. No medical questions will be asked and acceptance is guaranteed if you are aged 65 or more.

Q. Can I take out a joint Plan?

A. Yes‚ there are two ways you can do this. Firstly‚ you can complete two personal arrangements forms and each take out a Plan. Alternatively you can pay an extra administration fee to a single Plan with both your names assigned to it. This joint Plan will hold your individual requests‚ but will be put into action solely on behalf of the partner who passes away first.

Q. Why is the Age Concern Guaranteed Funeral Plan only available to customers aged 65 and over? 

A. To make the Age Concern Guaranteed Funeral Plan affordable‚ the business took the decision to use the 65 year age as a cut off. If the Guaranteed Funeral Plan was made available to all people below the age of 65 then the Plan would have been too expensive thus making it unaffordable.

People nowadays are living longer and longer. In fact some of the 65 year olds that are alive today will live for another 40 years or more. With a funeral plan it can be a long time between purchase and use; within this period there may be many unforeseen changes/events which we cannot account for or predict. This means we cannot offer the Age Concern Guaranteed Funeral Plan to people aged 65 and under‚ as we simply do not know what will happen that far into the future. 

As part of the Age Concern Funeral Plan offering when a non Guaranteed Plan holder turns 65‚ they will have an option to take out the Age Concern Guaranteed Funeral Plan.

If we are going to offer a guaranteed funeral plan we can only offer it if we know‚ without doubt‚ that we will be able to honour and fulfil the promises we make to the planholders who buy the plan.
