National Council on Ageing

The National Council on Ageing (NCoA) is the formal title of Age Concern England.  Members of the NCoA are representatives of those bodies in the United Kingdom wishing to participate in its discussions and involved or interested in‚ the welfare of older people.

An important function of the NCoA is to enable its members to express authoritative and broad views on significant policy issues concerning ageing and older people. These views are developed through discussion and debate at meetings and conferences which enable all members of the NCoA to contribute from their knowledge and experience and support the policy development work of Age Concern.

The members of the NCoA are divided into Electoral Colleges for the purpose of electing members to the Board of Trustees. These include the Retirement Forum‚ the National Associations Forum and the Black and Minority Ethnic Elders (BMEE) Forum. These Fora hold meetings throughout the year. There is also a Rural Affairs Sub-Group‚ which supports the Director General in his work at national level as the age sector lead in relation to rural affairs.

Two meetings of the NCoA are held each year‚ usually in January and July.  An Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held each year in conjunction with the July meeting.
