Policy

Older lesbians, gay men and bisexuals face many issues in respect of ageing in common with older heterosexuals.

However, older lesbians, gay men and bisexuals may face other issues and injustices because of:

• their sexuality
• the lack of legal recognition of their relationships
• double discrimination of ageism and homophobia

We believe older lesbians, gay men and bisexuals should have the right to be open about their sexuality without being marginalised, isolated and subject to harassment, and to have access to appropriate health, education, housing and social care services.

As same sex couples they should be treated in terms of legal and financial rights on the basis of equality with heterosexual couples.
