Malnutrition of older people has no place in a modern society.

Until malnutrition in hospitals is ended‚ the lack of respect for the dignity of older people will continue to be a national scandal.

• the Department of Health.

The problem does not need more legislation and more guidance‚ it needs to be tackled by changes in culture and practice within the NHS.

Older people’s health and dignity are undermined in hospitals across the country because policy and best practice is not being put into practice.

Ending the scandal of malnourished older people in hospitals will save lives.
