Over the past year there have been a number of great successes for the Hungry to be Heard campaign:
- Over 30 Age Concerns are working directly with their local hospital or NHS Trust to improve mealtimes for older patients
- As a direct result of campaign, the department of Health launched a nutrition action plan in October 2007, to ensure people using health and social care services get the right nutritional care
- Gordon Lishman, Director General of ACE, has also been appointed to chair the Nutrition Governance Board which will monitor progress against the plan
- We have partnered with the Royal College of Nursing to develop a free resource pack for hospitals
- The Council of Europe Alliance has recommended 10 key characteristics for good nutritional care in hospitals, which compliment our 7 recommended steps
- 147 MPs have signed Early Day Motion 388 in support of the campaign in 2006
- The Royal College of Nursing launched its own campaign, ‘Nutrition Now’ to raise standards of nutrition and hydration in hospitals and the community.
