On October 17th 2008‚ Yume Pictures will release the British documentary Young @ Heart from director Stephen Walker.
Young @ Heart is a joyous and often hilarious film that follows an American choir of senior citizens (ranging in age from 73 to 92) who sing contemporary rock songs from (amongst others) The Clash‚ The Ramones‚ Talking Heads‚ David Bowie‚ Radiohead‚ Sinead O'Connor and Coldplay.
The lyrics of these songs as sung by the choir take on a new relevance when sung by these elderly rockers. Bob Dylan’s “Forever Young” becomes a determined survival anthem and Coldplay’s “Fix You” - originally intended as a duet – becomes a touching solo‚ paying tribute to the choir member who would have performed the duet before he passed away.
The film is an upbeat celebration the vitality of these people and their ways of dealing with the physical difficulties‚ fragilities and fears of getting old and their enthusiastic determination in the face of arduous practice sessions and performing.
