Last year 24‚650 people died as a result of cold related issues.

Help us bring down the number of excess winter deaths.

Cold continues to be one of the biggest issues facing older people this winter. Health‚ housing and heating all affect older people’s ability to keep warm and stay well in winter.

As a result of increasing fuel costs older people are even more likely to risk inadequately heating their home this winter‚ in an attempt to reduce their bills.

What we are doing

We are calling on the Government:

• to increase the Winter Fuel Payment by £100
• to increase the Basic State Pension to at least £114‚ so all older people can afford to heat their homes.

Our Fight the Freeze fundraising campaign is also raising money to tackle the problems faced by older people when the temperature drops.
