Latest developments

The government has published an end-of-life care strategy for all adults at the end of life. It aims to provide people with more choice about where they live and die‚ and to improve the quality of care provided at the end of life.

Older people do not get fair access to palliative care services and‚ as a result‚ do not always get the support and help they need at the end of their lives. Many older people develop a range of conditions towards the end of life. Good coordination of care is essential to meet their needs and aspirations.

Age Concern is working with the National Council for Palliative Care’s older people’s policy committee to develop policy and practice in this area.
