Ageing Well volunteer

Adding years to life and life to years

Ageing Well is our national health promotion programme run for and with older people.

Any older person can be trained to work as an Ageing Well volunteer to help your peers make small but essential changes to improve their lifestyles.

In return you have the opportunity to:

  • learn new things
  • meet people your own age
  • feel better physically and mentally
  • take part in physical and social activities at affordable prices in a location near you

What you will be doing

As a volunteer you will be trained to give advice and talks to groups on:

  • healthy lifestyles
  • falls prevention
  • healthy eating
  • giving up smoking  

You will also take part or lead in a number of activities including:

  • walks
  • gentle movement to music
  • Tai Chi
  • Line Dancing
  • seated exercise
  • lunch and social clubs
