Britons are becoming more adapted at integrating themselves into new communities after choosing to work or retire abroad, it has been claimed.
In news that may be of interest to those seeking retirement advice, Dave Isley, head of NatWest International Personal Banking, said ease of travel between destinations was one factor that had improved this.
He added: "If you move to an English-speaking community and you're prepared to throw yourself into that community, then what this has proven is that people are now thinking and believing that there is more than just the UK."
Mr Isley concluded by noting that there were a lot of people expatriating and that this was a trend he expected to increase.
According to the most recent NatWest International Personal Banking Quality of Life survey, carried out with the Centre of Future Studies, one in five (20 per cent) expats from the UK surveyed said their sense of being British had diminished after moving abroad.
