Local Age Concerns provide independent and confidential information and advice on a wide range of issues that are relevant to older people.

What does the service offer?

Our trained Information Workers provide information you can trust that will enable you to make the right choices and decision. If we cannot help you directly‚ we can also put you in touch with other organisations that can.

Information and advice services offered include:

  • Welfare benefits advice such as help with income support‚ incapacity benefit‚ disability living allowance‚ NHS costs and accessing direct payments for social care
  • Reviews and appeals procedures for welfare benefits
  • Financial advice including debt counselling‚ advice on fuel bills and other household bills
  • Information on grants to individuals to help with expenses such as home repairs or medical costs
  • Housing advice including finding sheltered housing and residential care
