Hungry to be Heard Case Study Form

Help us to highlight the scandal of malnourished older people in hospitals

We are looking for older people - or members of their families or carers – to share your experiences with us of problems with appropriate food, or help with eating it, in hospital.

If you, or a relative, have been in hospital recently, did you lose weight for reasons not directly connected with the immediate medical condition? Do you feel the weight loss was because of the quality of the food? Or a lack of help with eating it? Or a lack of consideration of special needs? Or a failure to consult you or a relative or carer? Was the amount of food you ate or your weight loss monitored?

All of the above are areas of concern being tackled by Age Concern’s campaign and your experiences will add to the outrage of older people not getting the basic care they need in hospitals.

Required fields are marked with *

Story* (including specific examples of the how food was provided, what the standard of food was, if any help was given with eating, if diet was taken into consideration, how concerns were dealt with and dates this occurred, what was the result of the poor standards – was there dramatic weight loss and was this recorded on medical notes? If a complaint was made, how did the hospital respond to it?)

Age Concern would never put a journalist in touch with you or your family directly without your prior agreement. All calls are vetted by the media team and your first point of contact would always to a member of Age Concern staff.
