Gloria Hunniford has been an ambassador for Age Concern since 2006. She is one of this country’s most loved TV & Radio broadcasters. She currently hosts The Heaven & Earth Show Sunday mornings on BBC1‚ and has recently hosted Gloria’s Greats for the Biography Channel‚ where she interviewed Sir Cliff Richard‚ Barbara Windsor‚ and Cilla Black.

Gloria hosted her own popular health slot‚ Gloria's Health for This Morning and will be returning to This Morning soon. Open House with Gloria Hunniford ran successfully for five years on Five‚ incorporating all the best aspects of Gloria's style‚ with interesting interviews‚ political debates‚ health news‚ as well as tips on fashion‚ gardening and cooking.

A rapid rise to the top

In 1969‚ Gloria cut her teeth on news and current affairs in Northern Ireland‚ and has gone on to host her own 2 hour daily radio programme‚ a weekly World Service programme on Irish music‚ and a Desert Island Discs lifestyles programme called VIP Suite where she chats to well known celebrity guests including Neil Diamond‚ Joan Collins and Des Lynam. Gloria Hunniford left her native Ireland in 1982 to become the first woman to have her own daily radio show on BBC Radio 2‚ which she presented continuously for 13 years until May 1995.

In terms of television‚ Gloria was one of the first female broadcasters to host her own highly successful chat show Sunday‚ Sunday‚ which ran for many years. Gloria has presented three series of Gloria Live for BBC1‚ and has stood in for Terry Wogan on The Wogan Programme. She has also hosted a number of other programmes for the BBC‚ including Cashwise‚ Good Fortune‚ Songs of Praise‚ and Family Affairs‚ which she co-hosted with her late daughter‚ Caron Keating.

Successful author

Gloria's moving and uplifting book Next To You about her daughter Caron's struggle with breast cancer has been a best seller since its launch in Oct 2005. All the proceeds have gone to the Caron Keating Foundation. She has also published an autobiography called Gloria and a cookbook of traditional recipes - Gloria Hunniford's Family Cookbook.

Gloria has won many prestigious awards during her 30-year career including TV Personality of the Year‚ Radio Personality of the Year and Best Dressed Female. She is a patron of a number of deserving charities and dedicates much time to the good causes she supports. Gloria was President of the Television & Radio Industries Club 1999-2000 and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001.
