Grandparent of the Year 2009 - competition rules

Nominated grandparents and grandchildren must be prepared to travel to London‚ at the organiser’s expense‚ on 23-25 March 2009 and cooperate with the media coverage of the event.
The competition is open to anyone resident in the UK (excluding ROI) except employees of Age Concern and Specsavers and their immediate families (at the time of the event). The grandchild must be six years or over (at the date of entry) and the entry must be accompanied by the nomination form. All entries must be submitted by the grandchild. All entries must have been received by midnight on 31st December 2008.
Proof of posting or emailing cannot be accepted as proof of delivery. No liability will be accepted for entries‚ which are lost‚ damaged or delayed.
Photographs or entries cannot be returned.
A panel of judges will select thirteen regional winners – each regional winner will receive a trophy and Specsavers vouchers to the value of £150. From the thirteen regional winners‚ the panel will shortlist the five national finalists who will be invited to London for the final judging and the awards ceremony. The Grandparent of the Year 2009 will be announced at the awards ceremony and will receive (1) £3‚000 cash prize; (2) free eye and hearing care for up to ten years from the date of the final; (3) eyecare vouchers to the value of £150 (for every two years) to be redeemed not more than once every two years for up to ten years from the date of the final; and (4) hearing care vouchers to the value of £2‚000 to be redeemed as £1‚000 in years 1-5 and the second £1‚000 in years 6-10 from the date of the final.
Vouchers forming part of the prize can be redeemed at any Specsavers UK store (excluding ROI).
No cash alternative will be offered and the prize is not transferable.
The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning any stage of the judging process or results.
Entry implies acceptance of these rules.
Neither Age Concern nor Specsavers is liable for prizes which do not reach the winner for reasons beyond either Age Concern or Specsavers’ reasonable control.
The name of the winner will be made available at www.ageconcern.org.uk/grandparents after the 26 March.
Information collected from this form will be used only for the purposes of Age Concern Grandparent of Year competition (including all associated publicity) and for no other purpose whatsoever.
Age Concern reserves the right to change‚ hold void or cancel the competition at any time without notice.
