What do I need to do now?
If you are interested in one of our places‚ please call Patrizia on 020 8765 7472 so we can talk about your running and fundraising experience‚ and then we'll ask you to fill in our application form.
If you are lucky enough to secure your place through the general ballot‚ we'd love to welcome you to the Age Concern Running Team. All our runners are supported with an Age Concern running vest‚ training plans‚ and materials to support your fundraising.
Fundraising
We'll give you lots of fundraising ideas to get you started. The best way is to start to tell everyone about what you're doing and why. We can provide sponsorship forms for the traditional method of getting sponsors and highly recommend the Just Giving website as an online method of doing this.
Also consider events or fun activities (e.g. a spread-bet on your time) as a way of your sponsors getting something back for their contribution. Ask your employer‚ clients or suppliers if they are able to match what you raise or make a significant contribution.
How Age Concern benefits from your support
Age Concern is the UK's largest organisation working for and with older people. In England‚ we are a federation of over 400 charities working together to promote the well-being of all older people.
Age Concern's work ranges from providing vital local services to influencing public opinion and government. Every day we are in touch with thousands of older people from all kinds of backgrounds - enabling them to make more of life. Your money helps us sustain and expand this important work.
You can nominate a local Age Concern to benefit directly from your sponsorship‚ and they'll receive at least half of the amount you raise (after costs). Please name the Age Concern organisation on the application form.
Great North Run 2008
The 2008 BUPA Great North Run took place on 5th October‚ on a beautifully sunny day. Age Concern England's 25 runners had good runs and enjoyed the day. Thank you to all who took part and are helping to raise thousands of pounds for Age Concern's work.
