Our response to Tony Blair's speech on NHS success (30.04.07)

Gordon Lishman‚ Director General of Age Concern‚ said:

“Much progress has been made in NHS services over the last 10 years but major challenges are still ahead‚ particularly in mental health care.

“Older people are the biggest users of NHS services yet many older patients still face overt age discrimination in mental health care. Any person over 65 faces the prospect of worse mental health treatment than a younger patient. This blatant discrimination must be addressed to ensure older people receive the care and respect they deserve.”
