Current health care issues affecting older people’s lives are:

A key Government priority is to change the focus of the NHS so that it concentrates on improving health and well-being and preventing problems – rather than just responding to crises.

By giving people more choice, for example about which hospital to go to, the Government aims to improve the quality of services.

But many older people have yet to feel the benefits of these changes and some important services have been cut back to make financial savings.

Concerns about basic standards of care have led the Government to introduce a dignity in care campaign.
