Gordon Lishman, Director General of Age Concern, said:
"Many older people consider their post office to be a lifeline. Older customers may need help from post office staff, for example, with filling in forms or in using Chip and PIN machines. They value, and have trust in, the service they receive from the highly trained post office staff and the invaluable support they offer to their older customers.
"If a post office must be relocated within another business to avoid closure, the expertise and skills of staff must continue to be provided. The post office services must also be in an accessible position within the business, this is particularly important for older people who may have mobility problems."
