All Party Parliamentary Group on Ageing and Older People

Richard Spring MP outside parliamentWithin Parliament there are a number of cross party groups formed of MPs and peers with a shared interest in a particular subject.

The All Party Parliamentary Group on Ageing and Older People is one of the largest of these groups with a membership of over 200 parliamentarians.

The purpose of the Group is to focus on current political and legislative issues before Parliament which affect older people.

We provide the secretariat for the group. The group takes an interest in all issues relating to older people and recent meetings have included:

  • A mini Inquiry into Older Workers and Incapacity Benefit Reform addressed by Jim Murphy, Minister for Employment and Welfare Reform
  • Pensions Minister Stephen Timms MP discussing the Government’s cross-Government strategy 'Opportunity Age'
  • A meeting focusing on the policy possibilities for Intergenerational work
