Our response to dementia study by the Medical Research Council (23.08.05)

Gordon Lishman‚ Director General‚ Age Concern England said:

“We must see greater investment in services to improve the lives of people with dementia and their carers. This report clearly highlights the fact that the ageing population will require more health and social care services.

"Increased funding must go into providing special equipment and safety gadgets to protect dementia sufferers at home‚ and supplying hard-working carers with decent respite services and help with handling their finances. If the UK’s older people are to spend later life in dignity‚ it is crucial that the Government takes an unblinkered approach to planning for the care needs of our ageing population. “
